Tiny, inert pigment granules are implanted or tattooed below the epidermis. Since the surface layer of the skin (epidermis) continually undergoes a natural exfoliation process, the color is tattooed on both the surface skin layer and the skin layer below (dermis layer). A topical anesthetic is applied before and after treatment to reduce any discomfort.
Ear Lobe Repair
Repair of Ear Ring Hole Tear Cosmetic surgical repair of a torn earlobe is a frequent occurrence. Piercing an earlobe puts it at risk to tear. The size, style and weight of an earring can contribute to the stretching or tearing of the earlobe opening. Large earrings that dangle can be caught on clothing or grasped by a child. The result can be a partially or completely torn earlobe, which is not attractive and prevents the patient from wearing earrings anymore. This deformity detracts from the ear and face. Some earlobes became longer and "dangly" with age. These elongated earlobes can significantly add to the aged appearance of a face. Earlobes that have stretched with time and gravity can be corrected with a reconstructive surgical
Procedure: Repair of a torn earlobe occurs in the office setting; using a local anesthetic and taking about 45 minutes to repair one ear. The procedure consists of excising the edges of the split, reconstructing the edges and placement of sutures. The sutures have to be removed about 7 -14 days after the procedure. Sometimes the deformation of the lobe is so severe, resulting in odd proportions on your face, the doctors have to create a new smaller ear.
Mole Removal Mole Removal (Nevus Removal) "Moles" are skin growths that can be just a cosmetic nuisance or an early sign of skin cancer. Any mole that is changing in size or color must be seen by your general dermatologist right away to determine that it is not a serious form of skin cancer. Moles that are either benign or unattractive can be removed by one of several different methods such as; excision, shaving and laser ablasion. All of the related procedures are quick, easy and relatively painless provided the use of a topical anesthetic cream. Procedure: A small amount of local anesthesia is placed under the nevus and a scalpel or scissors is used to shave the nevus off flush or slightly below the level of skin. Then an electrical instrument will cauterize or burn the area or a solution will be placed on the area to stop any bleeding.
Scar revision Scar formation, which naturally results from full thickness skin wounds caused by accident, disease, burns or surgery, can be treated in a variety of ways. Excision, injection, laser skin resurfacing, and dermabrasion are some of the most common types of solutions toward improvement. Once a scar forms, it is permanent, but it may be made less noticeable. Some types of keloid or hypertrophic scarring can be made worse by the above treatments, making scar revision surgery the only option. Scar revision surgery can only improve the way the scar looks, rather than removing it entirely. Scar revision surgery can, however, make your scar much less noticeable. Procedure: Scar revision may use laser, injections, excisions, Z-plasty, or other methods in order to lighten or diminish the scar’s appearance. Remember that all scars are permanent. Scar revision surgery will not remove scar, but it may help conceal it and improve its overall appearance.
